The Boathouse Bistro

I've been to the Boathouse quite a few times. This past visit was a very quiet night with about 6 other customers in the restaurant. We had great service from our waitress, who is also the only waitress I have ever seen working here, even on busy nights when every table is taken. Inside is pretty small, the tables are basically on top of each other. Its nice when its not too busy, but nights when it is you are having dinner with complete strangers right next to you, basically at the same table. If this were a restaurant in the city it would be completely understandable, but in a small town like Hingham you expect to have some personal space.  You never know what you're going to get when you visit, I have only ever been during the week days, I have seen only one other person at the bar when I was there, and I have seen every table taken with a long wait at the door.

This visit we were seated right away, we had our own space at a table away from the few other customers that were also there. The waitress was very nice and made sure we had everything we wanted and needed. When its busy, this is not the case. Since I have only seen this one waitress, she's always all over the place when they are busy. With the help of the bartender also trying to serve the bar and a few tables on the floor the service gets pretty slow.  The kitchen seems to be on top of the orders once they're placed, you wouldn't have to wait much longer after you order.

Their menu is pretty small with expensive options. Its always a hit or miss with their food. It seems every other time I visit I get something on the menu that has no flavor.  If you order the right thing though it is absolutely amazing. I've had their chicken parm and have no complaints of it what so ever. However getting that every time would be boring. I've tried their pasta specials of the day and other things on their menu which have never seemed to be something I would ever wish to order from them again.

Over all I would have to rate them a 5/10.
